H21 Hot-work Tool Steel Bars and Plates
High-tungsten hot-work die steel exhibits high strength and hardness at elevated temperatures (with a hardness of approximately HBW300 at 650℃). It also demonstrates good resistance to thermal-mechanical fatigue and possesses excellent tempering resistance. This steel is commonly used for manufacturing hot-working dies such as die-casting molds, forging dies, and hot extrusion dies for food products. However, it has poor toughness and is relatively difficult to machine.
Applications of H21
Suitable for manufacturing convex and concave dies that experience high stresses at elevated temperatures but are not subjected to impact loads—for example, convex and concave dies used in flat forging machines, insert blocks, copper alloy extrusion dies, and die-casting molds. They can also be used to fabricate dies that simultaneously endure significant compressive stress, bending stress, and tensile stress—such as counter-extrusion dies—and can even be employed to produce hot metal cutting tools that operate under high-temperature conditions.
