1.4313 UNS S41500 Martensitic Stainless Steel Bars and plates
1.4313 steel is an ultra-low carbon martensitic stainless steel developed on the basis of CA-6NM cast steel, which has good strength, toughness, weldability and wear resistance. Unlike high carbon martensite which is strengthened by forming carbides, this kind of steel is mainly strengthened by forming low carbon martensite with high toughness and supplemented by alloying elements such as nickel and molybdenum. Through proper heat treatment, it has a composite structure of low-carbon lath martensite and reversed austenite, which not only maintains a high strength level, but also has good toughness and weldability.
Applications of 1.4313
Combining excellent strength, toughness and corrosion resistance, this steel is widely used for high-end engineering components such as turbine parts and acid-resistant pump shafts. Optimized heat treatment enables it to retain good low-temperature toughness for structural parts under extreme service conditions.
- Energy field: It is used to manufacture key parts such as hydraulic turbine blades, runners and runner lower rings in the hydropower industry, as well as steam turbine blades, bolts and other components in the thermal power industry.
- Petrochemical field: It is used to manufacture refining equipment, storage tanks, pipelines, reaction vessels and other equipment, as well as drill rods, oil pipes and sucker rods for oil well equipment.
- Mechanical manufacturing: It is used to manufacture mechanical parts, such as bearings, gears and bolts, etc.
- Marine engineering: It is used to manufacture hull structural plates, marine pipelines and valves, as well as pistons, connecting rods, crankshafts and other components of marine engines.
- Pharmaceutical and food processing: It is used for pharmaceutical equipment, containers, surgical instruments and implants, as well as food processing equipment, containers, mixers, conveying pipelines and storage tanks, etc.

Process Properties
Hot working: It has good hot working properties, and the hot working process parameters are the same as that of general 18-8 austenitic stainless steel. It is capable of smoothly producing forgings, plates and pipes, etc. The thermal forming of thick plates should be performed at 700~1000℃.
Cold working: Forming operations such as cold rolling, cold drawing and cold bending are allowed.

Corrosion Resistance of 1.4313
The corrosion resistance of 1.4313 steel in CO2 environment is constrained by the Cr content of the steel. As long as the Cr content is greater than 11%, its corrosion rate remains stable at a low level.
