AISI 416 UNS S41600 X12CrS13 Martensitic Stainless Steel Bars and plates
It is the steel with the best machinability among stainless steels, characterized by high carbon and high chromium content. It is suitable for applications requiring high wear and corrosion resistance, and can maintain its mechanical properties at elevated temperatures, making it ideal for equipment exposed to heat. Its machinability is approximately 85% of that of free-cutting carbon steel, which is the best among all stainless steels.
Applications of AISI 416
In the field of mechanical manufacturing, it can be used to produce parts subject to high wear and corrosion. Owing to its excellent machinability, it is suitable for use in automatic lathes. In the automotive industry, its heat resistance enables it to withstand the high temperatures generated during combustion, so it is used to manufacture components such as exhaust systems, mufflers, and catalytic converters.
