UNS S10120 Age-Hardening Stainless Steel Bars and Plates
High-carbon martensitic stainless steel, an improved variant of 420 stainless steel, boasts excellent hardness and wear resistance. Through heat treatment, it can achieve high hardness while maintaining moderate corrosion resistance. It also offers good machinability and hardenability; however, its weldability is poor, its toughness is limited, and its high carbon content results in lower corrosion resistance compared to austenitic stainless steels.
Applications of UNS S10120
This material is widely used in fields that demand high hardness and wear resistance, such as tool manufacturing (surgical instruments, food-processing blades), industrial wear-resistant components (pump shafts, bearing sleeves), plastic molds, and automotive parts (wiper blade clips, clutch discs).
