UNS S45500 XM-16 Age-Hardening Stainless Steel Bars and Plates
This is an austenite-martensite duplex precipitation-hardened stainless steel characterized by high strength, excellent corrosion resistance—particularly resistance to stress corrosion and pitting corrosion—superior weldability, and outstanding low-temperature toughness. The added elements such as Cu, Nb, and Ti enhance the precipitation-hardening effect and thermal stability.
Applications of UNS S45500
In the aerospace industry, it is commonly used for aircraft landing gear, engine fasteners, and high-load structural components. In shipbuilding and marine engineering, it is suitable for ship propulsion shafts, submarine pressure-resistant hulls, and valve components operating in seawater environments. In the petrochemical industry, it can be used for pipelines, pump bodies, and reactor components that are resistant to acid and chloride-ion corrosion.
