H11 1.2343 SKD6 Hot-work Tool Steel Bars and Plates
This is a medium-alloy, air-hardening hot-work die steel with excellent toughness, hot strength, and thermal fatigue resistance, capable of being hardened by air cooling. When quenched in air at relatively low austenitizing temperatures, it exhibits minimal distortion during heat treatment, produces less oxide scale during air quenching, and demonstrates good resistance to erosion caused by molten aluminum.
Applications of H11
Its resistance to erosion by high-temperature molten aluminum makes it ideal for manufacturing aluminum die-casting molds—for example, cylinder blocks and transmission housings for automobile engines. With high strength at elevated temperatures and excellent resistance to deformation, it is also well-suited for producing hot forging dies, such as copper alloy forging dies for valves and pipe fittings.
