L6 Hot-work Tool Steel Bars and Plates
This is a low-alloy hot-work die steel with excellent machinability, good toughness and strength, and high wear resistance. Even when heated to 500℃, it can still maintain a hardness of around HBW300. Due to its molybdenum content, it exhibits insensitivity to tempering and experiences a relatively rapid hardness drop when subjected to prolonged high-temperature service.
Applications of L6
Primarily used in the field of hot forming dies operating at medium and low temperatures under moderate loads, this material is particularly well-suited for manufacturing hot forging dies for ferrous metals—such as hammer forging dies and press forging dies—that are subjected to significant impact loads (e.g., dies for forging automotive crankshafts and connecting rods). This material is also commonly employed in small- and medium-sized hot extrusion dies and hot shearing tools, maintaining stable performance in working environments below 500℃.
